Since Disney+ launched back in November 12, 2019, a large number of fans have complained that there was content missing from the streaming service. Among the complaints was the issue that various Marvel and Star Wars movies were nowhere to be seen.
Among these were many of the recently purchased Fox produced Marvel properties. This includes the widely adored movies from the X-Men franchise and the not so adored Fantastic Four movies.
This is all set to change this summer as Disney+ has announced that some of these fan favourites will begin to make their way to Disney’s new streaming service
Disney released a promotional video accompanied by some information about their planned releases for Disney+ between the July and September this year.
Disney released a promotional video accompanied by some information about their planned releases for Disney+ between the July and September this year. Starting from Friday, July 3 with the digital release of Hamilton, a movie that was originally meant for an October 2021 theatrical release, but for obvious reasons, these plans were pushed back and now Disney have decided to release the movie digitally over a year early.
Some of the most recognisable amongst the new releases are four X-Men movies, including 2013’s The Wolverine. On July 10, we will see the addition of X-Men Days of Future Past, this will be the first X-Men movie added to the platform. After this, on July 17 we will see the addition of X-Men: Apocalypse. Then finally, on August 7 we will see the first X-Men movie added to the streaming service.
Sadly, there’s no word on the other movies from the original trilogy making their way to Disney+ anytime soon but we will no doubt see them on there sometime in the not too distant future.
On the Star Wars side of things we will see the Disney+ debut of Solo: A Star Wars Story on July 10, this will mean that we will finally have all of the Star Wars movies available on the streaming platform.
Another fan favourite worth pointing out is Pixar’s Incredibles 2, arriving on July 31.
