Marvel games have been scarce these last few years and apart from Marvel’s Spiderman they’ve all been pretty terrible. Finally, this should be about to change with the upcoming release of Marvel’s Avengers. First revealed back in January 2017 Marvel’s Avengers game will follow earth’s mightiest heroes after they are attacked by a group of terrorists including Taskmaster, then outlawed before being forced to join together once again to uncover a shocking conspiracy.
Developed by crystal dynamics, the playable characters include Steve Rogers / Captain America (Jeff Schine), Tony Stark / Iron Man (Nolan North), Bruce Banner / Hulk (Troy Baker), Thor (Travis Willingham), Natasha Romanova / Black Widow (Laura Bailey), and Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel (Sandra Saad).
We’ve already seen gameplay footage and it looks pretty cool. Just like in the comics and movies each character brings something different to the table. Each character will have a unique set of skills that will separate them from their teammates. Also, if the gameplay demo is anything to go by it looks like we’re in for a very interactive experience when it comes to how much control we have of these characters abilities.
One thing that stood out, in particular, was Thor wielding the power of Mjolnir. We see him shooting lightning bolts into what looks like Hydra goons before throwing it at one of them knocking them metres into the air. Then we see him fighting hand to hand as the hammer flies waits for his call. After this, we see the player call the hammer back to Thor on command.
Pre Order Bonus
The game was delayed to give the developer more time to finish the game but with the release not too far on the horizon, the beta is no doubt coming very soon. And the players who choose to pre-order the game for the PS4 will be given early access to the beta.
This is not all you will be treated to you’ll also get a Marvel legacy outfit pack, an exclusive nameplate amongst other bonuses. So if you are going to get this game its definitely a good idea to pre-order the game and get these goodies.
It’s pretty safe to say Marvel fans can now rejoice in the fact we are finally going to be treated to a game they deserve. Square Enix have set their sights on developing one of the best superhero games to date and by the looks of it they might just do that.
Marvel’s Avengers game is set to release September 1, 2020, and will no doubt set precedence for the future of Marvel superhero games in years to come.
