Recently Mortal Kombat 11 revealed Frost, as the final playable character for the new instalments roster. Sub-Zero’s swaggered apprentice can be unlocked while playing the campaign. But alternatively, for players who have no intention of playing the story mode, Frost can be purchased separately.
She is available on Steam and consoles for $6 (about £4.65) On PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, she currently appears only to be listed through the in-game marketplace. As opposed to being a separate game item on the storefronts themselves. The price is also consistent throughout the different platforms.
Frost’s inclusion in the roster is unique due to the fact all the other playable characters are available from the start. She is locked from the beginning and unlocked after completing chapter 4 of story mode or by purchasing her.
Selling a shortcut to an item is certainly not uncommon in this day and age of play to win marketing perpetuated my developers. However, the store listings do not even indicate that she can be unlocked through gameplay. Her store listing is found to similar to Shae Kahn, who is only obtainable through purchase if you failed to pre-order.
The Steam reviews on the DLC are mostly negative. Many players are furious about the fact that you can unlock her through play.
