In a recent Disney+ press release the Obi-Wan TV show is revealed to have a 2022 release date.
The current global situation has caused many delays and put not only global health at risk but also whole industries. The entertainment industry being one of them. Many movies, tv shows and now even video games have suffered at the hands of release delays and paused production.
The other day news hit that the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 slate was going to be delayed. Disney has remained pretty quiet about the unknown release dates of the Star Wars Disney+ projects. One project that has undergone delays outside of the pandemic is the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show.
The show was left with a writer from the beginning of the year up until the other day, when Disney and Lucasfilm announced that they had brought a new writer on board to work on the project.
Despite the writer changing most things are staying the same showrunner Deborah Chow, who directed a few episodes of The Mandalorian, is still on board and Ewan McGregor is also still set to reprise his role as the iconic Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
One other thing that has changed since the show was first announced is the number of episodes which was originally six but has now been reduced to four.
In a press release from Disney+ France shared via MCU cosmic, we were given a clue as to when we might get to see this highly anticipated series. In this press release, they revealed that the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series has now been set to 2022. Previously, it was revealed that pre-production will begin early 2021.
There was a disclaimer at the very end of this press release, that these dates are of course subject to change. With the current situation, this is understandable. Hopefully, the pandemic will end soon and the world can begin to recover.
