Ubisoft has fell victim to yet another leak ahead of their live event Ubisoft Forward taking place on July 12th, only this time it appears Sony is to blame as PlayStation Store has leaked the official artwork for Far Cry 6.
For weeks there have been rumours flying around that we were going to see a new Far Cry revealed at Ubisoft Forward. The news was all but confirmed when it there were whispers of Giancarlo Esposito being in a high-profile AAA title he couldn’t talk about, leading industry insiders to basically confirm he would be a part of the next game in the Far Cry franchise.
It was assumed that we weren’t going to see anything concrete until the official reveal during the Ubisoft Forward live event. But thanks to PlayStation (who are usually bulletproof with things like this) we have now seen the artwork simultaneously confirming the title to be Far Cry 6 and Esposito to be the lead character.

Not only this, but the listing also featured a February 18, 2021 release date and a short gameplay description telling us a little bit about the game’s story and what to expect from the gameplay itself.
It’s unclear whether the release date will be subject to changes moving forward. This may be the case since the game hasn’t officially been listed yet. However, it’s safe to say the game should still release around this period.
Another thing mentioned in the listing is that Far Cry 6 will offer a free PlayStation 5 upgrade for any players moving to the next-gen. Again, this could be subject to change but even if the date does change this offer will no doubt be featured in the official listing.
Far Cry 6 Story
Thanks to the given synopsis we now know that the main protagonist will be Dani Rojas, a local guerrilla fighter striving to free a small nation under the control of a ruthless dictator. The gameplay description promises the largest map to date, “makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire to burn the tyrannical regime to the ground”.
In relation to the actual story, the synopsis reads “Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution”.
Another Ubisoft Leak?
The listing was found on the Hong Kong PlayStation Store, it has since been taken down but as we all know, the internet is too fast for that. Once the leak is out, it’s out. The Far Cry 6 cover art is now all-over social media.
Shortly after all of this went down, Ubisoft released a short promo trailer showing the character lighting up a cigar with the caption “Anton would not be pleased. See you on Sunday at #UbiForward”.
Ubisoft appears to be rolling with the punches (not that they have a choice) but this can’t be very good for their live event. There have been numerous leaks surrounding recent Ubisoft titles. Including two Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay videos and Watch Dogs: Legion gameplay screenshots.
So, with today’s leak that’s three of Ubisoft’s major titles that have been victim to leaks over the past week. Mere days before their Ubisoft Forward live event.
No doubt Ubisoft has much more to show us about Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion and other upcoming Ubisoft titles on Sunday at Ubisoft Forward, streaming at 12:00 PT / 15:00 ET / 20:00 BST.
