With all the recent revelations about Sony’s next-gen console, there had been whispers about Microsoft announcing their next-generation console at E3 2019. And during Microsoft’s E3 Briefing they did not disappoint. They announced a duo of consoles under the name “Project Scarlett”. Microsoft gave a talk on what their vision behind the console and also gave us a lot of information on what we can expect.
It was revealed as though “Project Scarlett” was just one console but according to Microsoft insider Brad Sams, this is just the name of Microsoft’s overall next-gen gaming platform. He said there will be two consoles. A higher spec console and a lower spec console (similar to Xbox One X and Xbox One S). The console we saw at E3 2019 was the higher spec console anaconda, the other console that is yet to be seen is apparently named Lockhart. Lockhart will reportedly be of a lower spec and made available at a more affordable price. But as of this moment, this is unconfirmed and has not been discussed.
Microsoft also confirmed that the upcoming Halo Infinite will be a launch title. They showed us a trailer during the Xbox press conference. But sadly, there was no gameplay demo. And we were told there will be no further updates until E3 2020.
As for the release date, we were told “Project Scarlett” and Halo Infinite will land Fall 2020. A more accurate release date will be given closer to the time of release.
The countdown begins…
